sandesa sunāya meṭo ballabhina kau dāhu kāma pāvaka tūlamaya tana
biraha svāsa samīra
Give my dear ones the message of my loving memory, and end their burning pain. Their bodies are a lamp-wick lit with passion's fire, their lovelorn sighs inflame it like a wind.

nāhina hota pāvata locanana ke nīra ite para
bina samādhāne kyoṅ dharain tiya dhīra
Only the tears that fall from their eyes save them from burning to ashes. When they have no remedy for their state, how can these women be steadfast?

kahā banāya tumasoṅ sakhā sādhu paravīna sūra
sumati bicāriye kyoṅ jiyai jala bina mīna
I do not need to explain anything to you, my wise and good friend. Sura Dasa says, "Think well on this. Can a fish live without water?"
